Why did Armored Corps fail in Lebanon?

Why did the safest tank in the world not withstand the second Lebanon war? Too many times during the recent war, the man in the tank was defeated. The Armored Corps is examining itself, and revealing that the failure derives from budgets cuts, but also from improper use of the tanks in enemy territory, as a result of inexperience of soldiers in the field.

Fifty Israel Defense Forces tanks were damaged during the 34 day war in Lebanon , 30 soldiers and officers from the corps were killed and more than 100 were injured, including two battalion commanders. These are the statistics from the recent conflict.

Members of Kibbutz Beit Hashita are having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Captain (res.) Yotam Lotan, who was killed in Lebanon Monday morning, will not return home.



Yotam, 33, the eldest son to Batya and Amir, grew up in the kibbutz, where he loved to sing and play music; he was called up for reserve duty just a few days ago, and was killed by an anti-tank missile in the south Lebanese village of Bint Jbeil.

IDF releases video of interrogation of Hizbullah member involved in kidnapping of two soldiers

The IDF has released film from an interrogation of a Hizbullah member who took part in the kidnapping of two soldiers on the northern border.

"My role was to stop the tank backup that was supposed to arrive to chase after the kidnappers," Hussin Ali Suleiman, 22, commander of the ant-tank unit of Hizbullah told the camera.

Suleiman was captured by IDF forces, and his interrogators released footage of the questioning on Monday.

In the interrogation, Suleiman volunteered information which shed light on a range of topics linked to Hizbullah and Syria and Iran's
